A Photo We Will Never Forget
“Alright, first day of school!”
“Say Cheese!”
– Every parent snapping photos as they hold back their tears because their babies are starting a new school year.
Here we go!
That classic first day picture is going to look a bit different this year. Whether your child is walking to their bedroom to start online learning, or smiling under a mask for in-person learning. It will be a photo we most definitely won’t forget!
I feel like the majority of people didn’t predict our school year would wind up starting this way. I know I celebrated that last day of online learning this past June just as much as our kiddos. The kids got presents for getting good grades, and best believe Mama and Dada popped some champagne like we won a championship game.
Just Kidding it’s only Half-Time
Little did I know, we would STILL be in this virus nightmare coming into the new school year. Ready or not, here we go again doing online schooling for our kiddos.
Luckily, I was able to coordinate working from home while I try and juggle online learning for our kids. I am trying to be a bit more positive in knowing that we’ve done this already, so we can do it again!
BUT, if I’m being completely honest, I am a bit anxious about it. I know there is nothing we can do about what is going on in this world right now, but I can’t help but feel multiple emotions about it.
I feel frustrated about our kids not having that “normal” school experience. Also fear of all the decisions we must make for our children, when there really is no “right or wrong” way.
Keeping it Positive
I do feel like our children often feed off of our energy, so it’s very important for us to take a step back, and point out the many blessing’s we do have. Some days will be hard, but I truly believe that difficult scenarios can help us grow and make our kiddos even stronger in this world we live in. Hopefully, we will look back at the beginning of the 2020 school year with memories filled with love, laughter, and a bit of craziness.
Some times I feel like this whole pandemic is just a dream that I am eventually going to wake up from! But unfortunately it isn’t!
For now this is our “new normal.” Where they will be meeting their new friends through a screen, recess will be in our backyard, and school lunches will be whatever mama can think of that day!
I know that we are all doing what is best for our families and that is all we can control! So lets be kind to one another in whatever scenario we are in!
There is one thing I know we can all agree on-
We will NEVER forget the first day of the 2020 school year.
