Why under $300 is the “Sweet Spot”

In my best devices for online learning blog, I already laid out some basic specifications on what you’ll want to look for in a student Chromebook. You can check that post out right here. After writing down those specifications, I went ahead and did more research to create a list of my top 5 Chromebooks under $300.

You’ll find that the Chromebooks that hit the minimum spec requirements we’re looking for fall between 200-300 dollars. If you’re spending anything less than $200, you’re most likely going to end up having a lot of issues with freezing or running slowly. If you spend more than $300 you’re going to end up with a lot of cool features and an awesome machine, but that stuff isn’t always necessary. This list is to help you save a little money, while still getting a device fully capable for all of your online learning needs.

Basic Specs You Want

Here is a list of specs that we make sure the Chromebooks in our school district have. Our students have little to no issues with their Chromebooks since we’ve started purchasing based on these specifications.

• At least 4GB Memory/RAM (More RAM the Better)
• At least 32GB storage/eMMC
• 11.6” screen will work but bigger would be better
• Webcam for Zoom Meetings
• Touch Screen (Not needed but helps younger kids)
